Craft Areas

Being a scrapbooker and a quilter, I wanted to setup a working area in my house. When my oldest son moved to the basement in his college years, I converted his old bedroom to a craft room.

It was important to have a large table and shelves to hold everything where I could find it. As with any project, the first place to start is the sorting. I created piles of similar items.

Once I knew what I was going to keep, I planned the shelving areas. I hung the shelves high enough to place my wheeled-carts underneath the bottom shelf. I also took into account how far and how deep the shelving had to be for my scrapbook albums and paper that are 12" wide.

I found a cabinet to house the sewing machine, iron, and fabric. It also contains my sewing patterns and quilting books. I also like that the fabric is behind glass to keep the dust out.

And what craft room isn't complete without some inspiration, so I hung a bulletin board where I place scrapbook layouts that I love. Found some colorful fabric to make curtains out of too!
